ABOUT SAMMY'S CAROL

Sammy’s Carol is about an African-American man named Samuel M. Wade, Jr. who shares his story of how Christmas became a special “anniversary” where he learned important lessons regarding manhood, dignity and pride.  As a teenager he was conflicted about his use of the N-word and how it affected his relationship with his peers, but through the guidance of a few caring “visitors” on a snowy Christmas Eve in 1997, Samuel was challenged to re-examine his life in order to gain a new perspective on what it means to be young, gifted and black.      

Inspired by A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, Sammy’s Carol is a work of fiction by David T. Boyd.

AWP Conference 2011

Another Shore Press, LLC attended the AWP Conference held in Washington, DC this past weekend.  There were dozens of seminars, readings and talks by agents, writers and publishers.  The opportunities for networking were plentiful.  There were several MFA programs in attendance who had the opportunity to speak to prospective students interested in writing.  There were also late night readings and poetry slams at different coffee houses across the District.  If you've never been to one of these events before, you really are missing out - so be sure to attend next year's conference in Chicago, Illinois (February 29-March 3) at the Hilton Chicago and the Palmer House.  Another Shore Press, LLC will be in negotiations to be an exhibitor of our books and sponsoring other events that weekend in the Windy City.  More details to follow.
